KNOW

Terms of Service

The short version

You must be 18 or over. KNOW suggests plans — it doesn't guarantee that a venue is open, has room, will let you in, or is safe. Always check before you go, and use your own judgment. Be decent to other users. Don't drink and drive. We can suspend accounts that abuse the service, and you can delete yours any time.

1. Agreement

These Terms are a legal agreement between you and KNOW ("KNOW", "we", "us") governing your use of the KNOW mobile app and this website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use KNOW. The Service is built around nightlife venues that serve alcohol. By using it you represent that you're 18 or over and legally able to enter this agreement. We verify age at sign-up and will terminate accounts that misrepresent it.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep it accurate.
  • You're responsible for what happens on your account. Keep access to your email or phone secure — that's how sign-in codes are delivered.
  • One account per person. Don't impersonate anyone or create accounts for anyone else.
  • Tell us at support@knowapp.app if you think someone else is using your account.

4. Plans are suggestions, not guarantees

Read this one

KNOW's plans are generated by an AI system using venue data that may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. A plan is a suggestion. We do not guarantee that a venue is open, has capacity, will admit you, honors a listed special, or is safe to visit. Verify hours, cover, age policy, and dress code with the venue before you go. Your decisions about where to go and what to do are your own.

Specifically:

  • Busyness data may be wrong. We label how confident we are — measured live, typical for that time, or not enough data. Treat all of it as an estimate.
  • Deals and specials change. We show what we have; venues change their minds. Confirm with the venue.
  • We don't run the venues. KNOW has no control over any venue's operations, admission, service, pricing, or conduct, and isn't responsible for them.
  • The AI can be wrong. It can misjudge a vibe, a distance, or a fit. Use judgment.

5. Safety and alcohol

KNOW helps you find places that serve alcohol. It does not encourage overconsumption, and nothing in the app is medical, legal, or safety advice. Drink responsibly. Never drive impaired. Look after yourself and the people you're with. If you feel unsafe, contact local emergency services — KNOW is not an emergency service and can't help you in one.

Meeting people from the app carries the same risks as meeting anyone else. Use public places, tell someone where you are, and trust your instincts.

6. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse anyone.
  • Post content that's illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or that depicts or targets minors.
  • Impersonate anyone, or post someone else's photo as your own.
  • Post someone else's private information, or use KNOW to track or surveil anyone.
  • Spam, advertise, or promote a business without our written permission.
  • Scrape, crawl, reverse-engineer, or resell the Service or its data.
  • Abuse the AI concierge — attempt to extract prompts or credentials, drive up cost, evade rate limits, or use it to generate harmful content.
  • Fake check-ins or otherwise corrupt busyness or presence data.
  • Break any law, or any venue's rules, while using the Service.

We can remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. Serious violations we may report to law enforcement.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, videos, captions, and text you post. By posting, you grant KNOW a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, resize, and display that content for the purpose of operating the Service — showing it to the people you shared it with. That license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared with others or retained in backups for a limited period.

You're responsible for what you post: that you have the right to post it, and that it doesn't violate anyone's rights. We may remove content that breaks these Terms, and we use automated moderation on uploaded images.

8. Other users' content and conduct

KNOW hosts content from other users. We don't endorse it and we're not responsible for it. Report anything that breaks these Terms with the in-app report tool, or block the user directly.

9. Beta software

KNOW is currently in beta. It will have bugs, it may lose data, features may change or disappear, and it may be unavailable without notice. It's provided as-is for testing. Don't rely on it for anything important.

10. Our content

The Service — the app, its design, the KNOW name and marks, and the software — belongs to us and is protected by intellectual property law. These Terms don't grant you any right to use our branding without permission. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose.

11. Changes to the Service

We may add, change, or remove features, and we may stop offering the Service entirely. If we discontinue it, we'll give you reasonable notice where we can so you can get your data out.

12. Termination

You can delete your account any time in Settings → Account → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms, if we're legally required to, or if we shut the Service down. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute terms — do.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty about accuracy, reliability, or availability. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any plan, venue detail, busyness figure, or deal is accurate or current.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, KNOW and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or for personal injury, arising out of your use of the Service — including anything that happens at or on the way to a venue we suggested. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, so parts of this may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold KNOW harmless from claims and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or of anyone's rights.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You and KNOW agree to bring any dispute exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and consent to their jurisdiction. If you're a consumer in a jurisdiction with mandatory local protections, this doesn't deprive you of them.

Before filing anything, email support@knowapp.app. Most things are faster to fix than to litigate.

17. Apple

If you got the app through Apple's App Store or TestFlight: these Terms are between you and KNOW, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. Apple isn't responsible for the app or any claims relating to it (including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property claims). Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll update the date above and notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new Terms.

19. Miscellaneous

These Terms plus the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing something isn't a waiver of it. You can't transfer these Terms; we may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
